ABOUT THE COMPANY
With an aim to increase diversity amongst dancers and performers in Denmark and abroad, choreographer and artistic director Laura Engholm laid the first building blocks for the newly started dance company Engholm Danseteater in the end of 2020.
With its colorful and thought-evoking works, the company wants to contribute to greater variation in especially age, gender, body type, social status and functional ability amongst performing artists. Likewise, through their performative work, the dance theater wants to create cultural experiences that appeal to audience groups, who do not usually experience that dance and theater are created with them in mind or are accessible to them at all.

LAURA ENGHOLM

Laura Engholm is a Danish dance artist and choreographer currently based in Copenhagen. She graduated with a first class honors degree from a bachelor in Contemporary Dance at Trinity Laban Conservatorie of Music and Dance in 2020. Same year, she won the Trinity Laban Innovation Award.
She had her first UK premiere with her piece “It’s Cancelled” in September 2020.

Since May 2020, she has received artistic mentoring from Stella Howard, who does dance research in the health field and has an inclusive, performative dance practice.
